EEEEEEEEEEEHHH!
Okay I’m GOING INSANE!! Being the perpetually dumb person I am, I did something I’ve done before, which I still have the scar from. I fell asleep on my heating pad. Yes, a mother should know better. Yes, I got burned again. (the last time took over a month to heal enough not to need daily bandages).
But it gets worse…dumba$$ here had to go and use bandages with a latex tape to hold them on. Sounds proper right? You have a burn you use polysporin and bandages to help it heal right? Not if you’re a freak like me, who’s not only allergic to latex…but constantly fails to remember that fact!
So now I’ve got a minor 2nd degree burn…and that’s the good part! There’s now a mass of skin on my abs, around the burn, that’s all red, blistered, and bubbling. It’s insanely itchy while burning at the same time. This happened last time, and you’d think I’d remember there’s latex in that tape, but oh no! Not smarty pants here. Yeesh! I have NO IDEA what the heck to do for this stupid thing now…and it’s driving ME INSANE!! I can’t do situps. I can’t even sit without going nuts.
But I’m not going to give up working out while this thing heals because that’ll lead to sloth city for me. Nu uh. No way. I just wish I knew how to make the reaction spots stop burning and itching!! ARGH!!! Any ideas??? Any at all?!?!?
But I will continute to work out…sans the situps for a while. Because I’M NOT GIVING UP!! (I’m just going insane…and I’m so close anyway it’s not really a far trip to be honest!)
Okay, first of all YOU ARE NOT DUMB! Now, forgetful, I’ll give ya! Awe, so sorry about the burn and the itch. I have no real ideas for you but here goes - benadryl is good for itching and allergies. That could knock you out for the night, too. Burns, I just don’t know. Here’s a little site: http://www.pedisurg.com/PtEduc/Minor_Burn_Treatment.htm
Go easy on yourself - sloth will not ensue if you need to rest. We have to find ways to take care of our body which sometimes means slowing down. That, too, is part of health. Take care sweetheart!
You definitely need to go get a heating pad with automatic turn off, you silly girl! I fall asleep on mine, too but it shuts off so I don’t get burned.

I would also take some benadryl, it’ll help any reaction you’re having and help you sleep for sure or Tylenol PM, it has the same stuff as benadryl with pain reliever, too. Maybe God is trying to tell you that you need some rest. Take it easy for a few days. And make sure are drinking lots of fluids! Feel better and don’t be so hard on yourself!
Chia… Thrive says, “we have to find ways to take care of our body which sometimes means slowing down.” There is this story told of a 19th century explorer who hired a group of local men to carry his equipment through the jungle. The explorer was anxious to arrive at his outpost and so was hurrying the men along. But late in the day as they neared the outpost, the men stopped. The explorer ranted and raved, pleaded and cajoled, but the men would not be moved until they felt ready to go on. He asked if they were tired but that wasn’t it. “Then what are you doing?” he asked. One of the men answered for the group. “We’re waiting for our souls to catch up with us.”

Wowzers…..Sorry to hear about the little mixup there. I am not allergic to the latex but actually the adhesive….I hope you find out a way to be comfortable.
Good Morning greatest buddy of mine! Way to go slick…LOL! Seriously, sorry to hear about your mishap with the heating pad. Couldn’t you find a better way to make the hubby pamper you? I thought of some challenges for us for the weekends, I will email them to you in a bit. I also have my distance for you for last week!
Poor Chai!!! How awful–that is something I would do!!! You are NOT dumb–we all make those mistakes sometimes. I always go with the “I am old and feeble” story, but you are going to have to wait a few years to use that one!
I second the Benadryl and Aloe Vera gel is suppose to be very soothing for burns–perhaps that would help and give you some relief!!! Take care of yourself!!!
Aww man! Bummer! Kudos for the presence of mind to keep going though! Definately would take it easy on that area till it heals. While I think Aloe Vera is a good idea, I don’t think taking Benadryl (in pill form) will help anything really, unless the reaction is spreading to the area around the initial place the tape was placed. This happens to me. I am allergic to latex as well. I get the same reaction from tape (found this out in the hospital when I woke up to find it stretched across my neck after surgery…. OUCH!) Benadryl just knocks me out. Do you have any Calamine lotion? Or Benadryl makes a lotion I’m pretty sure. I would use a lotion instead of taking anything by mouth. You can apply it as often as you need to, and it won’t put you to sleep! So… if I were a Dr. I’d say Aloe Vera for the burn and Calamine/Benadryl lotion to dry up that irritated skin from the tape and cure that itching.
Good luck! Hope it gets better soon!
